Siswa tunarungu memiliki hambatan dalam berbahasa yang mempengaruhi aspek kognitif, sehingga menyebabkan kemampuan literasi sains. Tujuan penelitian ini adalah untuk membuktikan pengaruh pendekatan integratif eksternal terhadap kemampuan literasi sains peristiwa alam daerah Jawa Timur siswa tunarungu.

Penelitian ini menggunakan pendekatan kuantitatif dengan desain penelitian pre eksperimen dalam bentuk rancangan one group pretest – post test design. Hasil rata-rata pre tes yang didapatkan ialah 35,01. Subjek yang memperoleh hasil pre tes terendah ialah BS, yang disebabkan oleh kurangnya kemampuan berbahasa. Kemudian diberikan perlakuan sebanyak enam kali dan diperoleh hasil rata-rata pos tes 75,73. Subjek yang memperoleh hasil pos tes tertinggi ialah NI dikarenakan subjek berpartisipasi aktif dalam pelaksanaan perlakuan.

Hasil penelitian menunjukkan adanya pengaruh yang signifikan dari pendekatan integratif eksternal terhadap kemampuan literasi sains peristiwa alam daerah Jawa Timur siswa tunarungu dengan hasil perhitungan Z_hitung (Z_h) adalah 2,52 yang mana lebih dari Z_tabel (Z_t) yang mendapatkan nilai 1,96.

Deaf students have a language barrier which affecting other aspects including cognitive, that causing a lack of science literacy skills. The purpose of this research is to prove the effect of external integrative approach to the capability of deaf students’s science literacy about natural events in East Java.

This research used a quantitative approach with pre-experimental design in  the form of one group pretest – posttest design. The average value of pre test is 35.01. The subject who get worse score is BS because the low of language ability that he has. Then it is given six times of treatment and the average result of the post test is 75.73. Subject who get best score is NI because he has active participation during the treatment.

The result showed that there was a significant effect of external integrative approach to the capability of deaf students’s science literacy about natural events in East Java with the calculating of T_value is 2.52 which is more than T_Critical which found the value of 1.96.
