SURABAYA CITY

Kota Surabaya adalah sebuah kota metropolitan di provinsi jawa timur yang seharusnya memberikan peluang yang besar bagi masyakat Kota Surabaya untuk mensejahterakan kehidupannya dengan menyediakan beberapa pekerjaan yang diharapkan masyarakat yang tinggal di kota metropolitan akan hidup sejahtera, namun masyarakat pesisir kota Surabaya memilih tetap eksis pada profesinya sebagai nelayan. Hasil kegiatan melaut ada kalanya memberikan hasil yang melimpah, namun seringkali hasilnya hanya bisa memenuhi kebutuhan sehari saja. Tujuan dari penelitian ini untuk mengetahui 1) faktor yang mempengaruhi eksistensi 2) kondisi sosial ekonomi nelayan tradisional di Kecamatan Asemrowo Kota Surabaya

             Penelitian ini dilaksanakan di Kecamatan Asemrowo Kota Surabaya. Jenis penelitian ini termasuk deskriptif kuantitatif. Penelitian ini menggunakan metode survey. Populasi pada penelitian ini adalah seluruh masyarakat nelayan tradisional di Kecamatan Asemrowo sebanyak 436 orang dengan jumlah sampel 83 orang. Sampel tersebut diperoleh dari perhitungan rumus slovin. Pemilihan sampel tersebut ditentukan dengan  random sampling. Data yang terkumpul dianalisis secara deskriptif kuantitatif dengan persentase (%).

Hasil dalam penelitian ini menunjukkan 1) faktor yang mempengaruhi eksistensi nelayan tradisional di Kecamatan Asemrowo Kota Surabaya adalah jumlah nelayan yang meningkat sebesar 2,30%, tingkat keterampilan nelayan yang dimiliki hanyalah keterampilan melaut saja, pengalaman melaut yang dimiliki nelayan di wilayah tersebut cukup lama yakni 21-30 tahun, nelayan adalah pekerjaan turun temurun keluarga dan adanya bantuan alat tangkap. 2) Kondisi sosial masyarakat nelayan masih sangat kuat dan erat dimana adanya organisasi KUB, kondisi ekonomi masyarakat nelayan masih sangat kurang karena pendapatan atau penghasilan yang didapat Rp 2.000.000 dalam satu bulan, pengeluaran untuk biaya operasional menangkapan ikan yang harus dikeluarkan Rp 92.000 sekali melautnya.

This research was conducted in Asemrowo District, Surabaya City. This type of research is descriptive quantitative. In this study using a survey method. The population in this study were all traditional fishing communities in Asemrowo District as many as 436 people with a sample size of 83 people. The sample is obtained from the calculation of the Slovin formula. The sample selection is determined by random sampling. The collected data were analyzed descriptively and quantitatively with a percentage (%).

                The results in this study indicate 1) the factors that influence the existence of traditional fishermen in Asemrowo District, Surabaya City are the number of fishermen who increased by 2.30%, the level of fishermen's skills is only fishing skills, the fishing experience of fishermen in the field is quite long, namely 21 -30 years old, fishing is a work passed down from generation to generation and there is fishing gear assistance. The social condition of the fishing community is still very strong and close to the existence of the KUB organization, the economic condition of the fishing community is still very lacking because the income or income earned is Rp. 2,000,000 in one month, expenses for fishing operational costs that must be spent at Rp. 92,000 once fishing.
