Efektivitas Penggunaan Terapi Ultrasound Sebagai Terapi Nyeri Doms Otot Quadriceps Pada Atlet Bola Tangan Putra

The Effectiveness of Using Ultrasound Therapy as a Therapy for Doms Quadriceps Muscle Pain in Male Handball Athletes

Nyeri otot tertunda adalah kondisi nyeri dan kekakuan yang terjadi pada otot setelah aktivitas fisik yang berat atau tidak biasa. Atlet bola tangan sering mengalami kondisi ini setelah melakukan latihan intensif. Hingga saat ini mekanisme terjadinya DOMS ini belum ada kepastian yang jelas, namun peneliti merujuk pada teori kerusakan jaringan ikat dan teori inflamasi. Terapi ultrasound telah digunakan dalam praktik klinis untuk mengurangi nyeri dan peradangan pada otot, dan penelitian sebelumnya telah menunjukkan efektivitas terapi ini pada beberapa kasus nyeri otot. Tujuan penelitian ini untuk mengetahui pengaruh secara signifikan penggunaan ultrasound terhadap penurunan nyeri DOMS di otot paha depan. Metode penelitian ini menggunakan penelitian kuantitatif deskriptif eksperimen dengan desain two group pretest-posttest. Sebanyak 20 atlet bola tangan putra berpartisipasi sebagai subjek dalam penelitian ini, dengan 10 atlet di kelompok kontrol dan 10 atlet di kelompok eksperimen. Kelompok eksperimen menerima terapi ultrasound selama 10-15 menit pada otot paha depan subjek, Sementara kelompok kontrol melakukan jalan kaki. Skala nyeri visual analogue scale (VAS) digunakan untuk mengukur tingkat nyeri sebelum dan sesudah perlakuan. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa kelompok intervensi memiliki penurunan yang signifikan pada tingkat nyeri pada VAS dibandingkan dengan kelompok kontrol. Rata-rata penurunan skor VAS pada kelompok eksperimen sebesar 2,20 ± (-9,5115), sedangkan pada kelompok kontrol hanya 0,80 ± (-0,02769). Sedangkan uji hipotesis menggunakan uji paired sample t test mendapatkan nilai signifikansi 0,000 < 0,05 (±1.03280). Simpulan dalam penelitian ini adalah terdapat pengaruh secara siginifikan penggunaan ultrasound therapy terhadap penurunan nyeri otot tertunda di bagian otot paha depan.

Delayed Onset Muscle Soreness (DOMS) is a condition of pain and stiffness that occurs in muscles after heavy or unusual physical activity. Handball athletes often experience this condition after intensive training. To date, the mechanism of DOMS occurrence is not clearly known, but researchers refer to the theories of connective tissue damage and inflammation. Ultrasound therapy has been used in clinical practice to reduce pain and inflammation in muscles, and previous studies have shown the effectiveness of this therapy in some cases of muscle pain. The purpose of this study is to determine the significant effect of ultrasound use on the reduction of DOMS pain in the front thigh muscles. This research method used a descriptive experimental quantitative research with a two-group pretest-posttest design. A total of 20 male handball athletes participated in this study, with 10 athletes in the control group and 10 athletes in the experimental group. The experimental group received ultrasound therapy for 10-15 minutes on the quadriceps muscle of the subjects, while the control group walked. Visual Analog Scale (VAS) pain scale was used to measure pain levels before and after treatment. The results showed that the intervention group had a significant decrease in pain level on the VAS compared to the control group. The average decrease in VAS score in the experimental group was 2.20 ± (-9.5115), while in the control group it was only 0.80 ± (-0.02769). The hypothesis test using paired sample t-test obtained a significance value of 0.000 < 0.05 (±1.03280). The conclusion of this study is that there is a significant effect of ultrasound therapy on the reduction of delayed onset muscle soreness in the front thigh muscles.
