Uji Coba Kombinasi Motif Ecoprint Teknik Pounding pada Gulijat Menggunakan Primisima
Testing the Combination of Ecoprint Motifs Techniques Pounding on Gulijat Using Primisima Cotton Fabric
This study was motivated by the limited exploration of combinations of textile dyeing techniques, particularly the ecoprint pounding technique combined with the gulijat motif. The ecoprint motif uses natural pigments from leaves, while the gulijat motif is an innovative technique resulting from a combination of rolling, folding, twisting, and tying. Primisima cotton fabric was chosen as the medium because of its high absorbency of color. This study aims to describe the process and results of testing the combination of ecoprint pounding technique motifs on gulijat. Using a descriptive qualitative method, it was conducted at the textile studio of Surabaya State University in May–June 2025. The research objects consisted of five pieces of primisima cotton fabric measuring 115 cm × 115 cm. Data collection techniques included observation, literature review, and documentation. Data were analyzed through the stages of reduction, presentation, and conclusion drawing. The results of the study indicate that the combination of ecoprint and gulijat motifs produces aesthetic, harmonious, and innovative textile works. The application of visual art principles such as unity, balance, rhythm, emphasis, contrast, and proportion is clearly evident in each motif. This study demonstrates the potential for developing combinations of ecoprint motifs on gulijat.
