Abstract
The level of students’ understanding is different
due to differences in the level of absorption of learning, ways of thinking,
and ways of learning. The learning media used also affects the students’
understanding. One of the learning media used to improve students'
understanding, especially on heredity topics with a high level of difficulty,
is an articulate storyline-based learning media that is intriguing, fun,
effective, and practical. This study aimed to produce learning media
"CETAR" Smart Stories based on articulate storylines to improve
students' understanding of heredity topics appropriate for use in the learning
process. The development model used in this research was ADDIE (Analysis,
Design, Development, Implementation, Evaluation). The parameters measured from
the developed learning media were validity, effectiveness, and practicality.
Media validation was assessed based on presentation, content, and language
aspects by a media expert, a material expert, and a Biology teacher. While the
effectiveness of the media in improving students’ understanding was obtained
from the pretest and post-test results analysis, and practicality was obtained
from the response of 13 students of grade XII IPA 1 SMA Labschool Unesa 1. The
data analysis technique was quantitative descriptive. The result of the average
validity score obtained in this study was 89% with a very valid category. The
developed media was also categorized as effective in
increasing students' understanding with a gain score of 0.65 and very practical
which was indicated by a positive student response of 86%.
Thus, the developed learning media "CETAR" can be concluded as
appropriate for being used as learning media. This media can make it easier to
u nderstand the material and provide a fun new learning experience for students.
