IMPLEMENTASI ETNOMATEMATIKA MELALUI KERAJINAN MANIK-MANIK GUDO JOMBANG PADA MATERI BILANGAN KELAS IV SEKOLAH DASAR

IMPLEMENTATION OF ETHNOMATHEMATICS THROUGH GUDO JOMBANG BEAD CRAFTS ON GRADE IV ELEMENTARY SCHOOL NUMBER MATERIAL

Pembelajaran etnomatematika memiliki keterkaitan dengan pendekatan matematika realistik yang memungkinkan suatu materi yang dipelajari dan budaya siswa dapat membuat pemahaman pada suatu materi menjadi lebih mudah karena materi yang diajarkan terkait langsung dengan budaya sehari-hari siswa. Selain itu, produk budaya juga dapat dimanfaatkan sebagai media pembelajaran kontekstual.  Namun, perlunya penerapan kegiatan pembelajaran ini tidak searah dengan keadaan yang terjadi di SDN Gongseng Jombang yang ternyata masih terdapat siswa yang kesulitan dalam memahami konsep bilangan. Oleh karena itu, diperlukan inovasi dalam mengembangkan aktivitas pembelajaran dengan memanfaatkan produk budaya sebagai media kontekstual. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk eksplorasi konsep matematika khususnya materi bilangan kelas 4 yang terdapat pada kerajinan manik-manik serta mengetahui desain aktivitas pembelajaran matematika materi bilangan berbasis etnomatematika melalui media manik-manik. Penelitian ini merupakan penelitian kualitatif dengan metode etnografi dan design research. Teknik pengumpulan data dilakukan menggunakan observasi, wawancara, LKPD, dan dokumentasi. Subjek penelitian ini adalah pemilik Griya Manik, pengrajin dan perangkai di Griya Manik serta 6 siswa kelas 4B untuk tahap pilot experiment dan seluruh siswa kelas 4A untuk tahap teaching experiment. Hasil eksplorasi pada kerajinan manik-manik Gudo Jombang diantaranya ditemukan pada proses pembuatan, perangkaian hingga pada proses pemasaran manik-manik. Konsep bilangan kelas 4 sekolah dasar yang ditemukan antara lain konsep bilangan cacah, konsep operasi hitung bilangan cacah yang meliputi penjumlahan, perkalian dan pengurangan, serta konsep pola bilangan. Sedangkan hasil dari implementasi penelitian ini adalah desain aktivitas pembelajaran berupa HLT mengenai konsep membilang banyak benda dengan bantuan pola bilangan dengan pendekatan etnomatematika melalui media manik-manik untuk kelas 4 sekolah dasar.

Ethnomathematics learning has a relationship with the realistic mathematics approach which allows the material studied and the culture of students to make understanding of the material easier because the material taught is directly related to the daily culture of students. In addition, cultural products can also be utilized as contextual learning media.  However, the need for the application of this learning activity is not in line with the situation that occurs at SDN Gongseng Jombang, where it turns out that there are still students who have difficulty in understanding the concept of numbers. Therefore, innovation is needed in developing learning activities by utilizing cultural products as contextual media. This study aims to explore mathematical concepts, especially grade 4 number material found in bead crafts and to determine the design of ethnomathematics-based math learning activities through bead media. This research is a qualitative study with ethnographic and design research methods. Data collection techniques were carried out using observation, interviews, learner worksheet, and documentation. The subjects of this research were the owner of Griya Manik, craftsmen and assemblers at Griya Manik as well as 6 students of class 4B for the pilot experiment stage and all students of class 4A for the teaching experiment stage. The results of the exploration of the Gudo Jombang bead craft were found in the process of making, assembling and marketing the beads. The concepts of grade 4 elementary school numbers found include the concept of counting numbers, the concept of counting operations on numbers that include addition, multiplication and subtraction, and the concept of number patterns. While the result of the implementation of this research is the design of learning activities in the form of HLT on the concept of counting many objects with the help of number patterns with an ethnomathematics approach through bead media for grade 4 elementary school.
