ANALISIS KEMAMPUAN HIGHER ORDER THINKING SKILLS PESERTA DIDIK PADA MATERI EKOSISTEM DI SMP SIDOARJO
ANALYSIS OF STUDENTS HIGHER ORDER THINKING SKILLS ON ECOSYSTEM MATERIAL AT JUNIOR HIGH SCHOOLS IN SIDOARJO

This research aims to analyze the HOTS (Higher Order Thinking Skills) abilities of students on ecosystem material in junior high schools in Sidoarjo. The analysis of HOTS abilities in this research uses indicators based on the revision of Bloom's Taxonomy by Anderson & Krathwohl, which include the indicators of analyzing (C4), evaluating (C5), and creating (C6). This type of research is quantitative descriptive. The research subjects used were one class of seventh-grade students from six junior high schools in Sidoarjo. Data collection techniques included HOTS ability tests, interviews, and documentation. The instruments used in this research were HOTS-based multiple-choice test questions and interview guidelines. The data analysis techniques used were the calculation of the average HOTS ability, independent sample t-test, and One Way Anova test. The average score from the analysis results showed that the HOTS ability of students was 63%, categorized as good. As for the analyzing indicator (C4), it had the highest average percentage of 75%, followed by the evaluating indicator (C5) at 65%, and lastly, the creating indicator (C6) at 48%. The analysis of HOTS abilities based on gender did not show any significant differences. However, the research results on HOTS abilities based on the national exam scores in natural sciences (IPA) showed significant differences.
