IMPLEMENTATION OF THE STUDENT TEAMS ACHIEVEMENT DIVISION (STAD) TYPE COOPERATIVE LEARNING MODEL BASED ON SOCIO-SCIENTIFIC ISSUES TO IMPROVE STUDENT SCIENTIFIC LITERACY

Learning natural science (IPA) or science requires students to be science literate or science literacy in the 21st century. Low science literacy will affect the ability to think creatively, logically, critically, which includes various aspects of life. This study aims to determine the effect of SSI-based STAD type cooperative learning model on science literacy skills at SMP Muhammadiyah 2 Taman Sidoarjo. This research used quantitative research with Pre Experimental Design method, with one group pretest-posttest design. Data were analyzed using SPSS with the results of the t test showing the value of Sig. (2-tailed) value is less than 0.01, which means that there is an effect of the SSI-based STAD type cooperative learning model on Science Literacy skills. The amount of influence was measured using Effect Size. The result of Effect Size is 2.96 with a very large category. This shows that the STAD cooperative learning model based on SSI has an effect on students' science literacy skills.
