This research aims
to prove the influence of using the inquiry learning model with the
storytelling method on the language abilities and cognitive abilities of
children aged 5-6 years. This type of research is quantitative research with an
experimental method using a nonrandomized pretest-posttest control group
design. The subjects of this research were group B of the TK Negeri Pembina Kalabahi, Kecamatan Teluk Mutiara, Kabupaten Alor, Provinsi Nusa Tenggara Timur , totaling 60 children. The data collection techniques used were
observation, pretest-posttest, and documentation. The data analysis technique
used is the data normality test carried out using the One-Kolmogorof-Smirnov
test, data homogeneity test, and hypothesis testing with the help of the SPSS
version 26.0 program. The results of the research showed that in the
experimental classes, namely B1 and B2, an initial assessment was carried out,
namely a pretest, with the results showing that the average language abilities
of children in classes B1 were 45.00, B2 52.22, B3 43.00 and B4 43.00, and
cognitive skills B1 41.00, B2 42.00, B3 43.00, and B4 37.00. After being given
treatment, both classes experienced an increase in language and cognitive
abilities. Proven by the independent t-test posttest for both classes, namely
the mean language score for the experimental class (B1 & B2) 96.1120,
control class (B3 & B4) 81.6663 and cognitive ability for the experimental
class (B1 & B2) 95.2780, control class (B3 & B4) 80.8337. The results
of the independent t-test showed that the posttest score for the experimental
class was better than the control class. Sig value. (2-Tailed) shows a value of
0.000 and t-count>t-table, so it can be concluded that there is a
significant influence between the application of the inquiry learning model
using the storytelling method and learning using the storytelling method on
children's language and cognitive abilities.
