This study aims
to find out the potential of the karst area on the north coast of Gresik from
the perspective of the social studies field, especially as a source of
environment-based learning. The karst area of the north coast of Gresik was
chosen because it is considered to have elements of study that are relevant to
social studies learning. The aspects of the study reviewed in this study
include social, economic, historical and religious activities, and geography.
This type of research is descriptive qualitative with the object of research
namely the karst area of the north coast of Gresik. The data analysis technique
uses the Miles and Huberman interactive model which has three main components
in determining the content of the conclusions, namely: (1) data reduction; (2)
data presentation; (3) data verification and drawing conclusions. The results
showed that the karst area on the north coast of Gresik, which is located in
two places, namely Setigi tourism in Sekapuk Village and Bukit Surowiti tourism
in Surowiti Village, has the potential to be developed as a social studies
learning resource. It was found that the results of research on karst areas
were relevant to the IPS scientific field, namely regarding the management of
spatial potential in KD 3.1 class VII with an emphasis on spatial concepts
which include: (location, distribution, potential, climate, shape of the
earth's surface, geology, and flora and fauna) and their effects towards human
life in the social, economic, cultural and educational fields.
