PSIKOLOGI TOKOH ANGEL SEBAGAI KORBAN BUDAYA PATRIARKI PADA FILM REDEEMING LOVE

THE PSYCHOLOGY OF ANGEL AS A VICTIM OF PATRIARCHAL CULTURE IN REDEEMING LOVE

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mendeskripsikan wujud psikologi perempuan tokoh Angel dalam film Redeeming Love  berdasarkan teori Helene Deutsch yang meliputi narcissism, passivity, dan masochism, serta menghubungkannya dengan

pengaruh budaya patriarki berdasarkan teori Sylvia Walby.  Penelitian ini dilakukan dengan pendekatan kualitatif. Data penelitian berupa cuplikan adegan dan dialog dalam film Redeeming Love. Teknik pengumpulan data dilakukan dengan dokumentasi dan pencatatan data. Instrumen penelitian adalah peneliti sendiri dengan bantuan format kategorisasi data. Teknik analisis data meliputi analisis konten, pendeskripsian, interpretasi, dan diakhiri penyimpulan. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa Angel mengalami psikologi narcissism dalam wujud defensive, compensatory, dan vulnerable. Angel juga menunjukkan passivity dalam wujud emosional, sosial, dan seksual. Masochism dalam dirinya juga tampak dalam wujud moral, affective, neurotic, dan sexual. Ketiga wujud psikologi tersebut saling berkaitan dan terbentuk sebagai respons terhadap pengalaman traumatis serta tekanan budaya patriarki yang menekankan pada subordinasi perempuan. Kebaruan dalam penelitian ini terletak pada penggunaan dua pendekatan teoritis untuk menunjukkan keterkaitan antara gejala psikologis tokoh perempuan dan struktur sosial patriarki yang menekannya.

This study aims to describe the forms of female psychology

embodied by the character Angel in the film Redeeming Love, based on Helene Deutsch’s theory, which includes narcissism, passivity, and masochism, and to relate them to the influence of patriarchal culture as outlined in Sylvia Walby’s theory. This research employs a qualitative approach. The data consists of scenes and dialogues from the film Redeeming Love. Data collection techniques include documentation and note-taking. The research instrument is the researcher herself, assisted by

a data categorization format. Data analysis techniques include content analysis, description, interpretation, and conclusion drawing. The results show that Angel experiences narcissistic psychology in the forms of defensive, compensatory, and vulnerable narcissism. Angel also displays passivity in emotional, social, and sexual forms. Her masochism appears

in moral, affective, neurotic, and sexual forms. These three psychological forms are interrelated and are shaped as responses to traumatic experiences and the pressures of a patriarchal culture that emphasizes the subordination of women. The novelty of this research lies in the use of two theoretical approaches to reveal the connection between the psychological

symptoms of the female character and the patriarchal social structure that oppresses her.
