Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui dan menjelaskan peran work engagement sebagai variabel intervening antara job demand dan emotional intelligence terhadap kinerja karyawan. Penelitian ini merupakan penelitian kausalitas dengan pendekatan kuantitatif. Teknik pengambilan sampel menggunakan sampel jenuh dengan jumlah 50 responden pada karyawan PT. Sinar Niaga Sejahtera depo Sidoarjo. Analisis statistic yang digunkan dalam penelitian ini adalah Partial Least Square (PLS) dengan bantuan software SmartPLS 3.0.
Penelitian ini menjelaskan bahwa job demand berpengaruh positif dan signifikan terhadap work engagement. Emotional Intelligence tidak berpengaruh terhadap work engagement. Work engagement tidak berpengaruh terhadap kinerja karyawan. Job demand tidak berpengaruh terhadap kinerja karyawan. Emotional intelligence berpengaruh positif dan signifikan terhadap kinerja karyawan. Work engagement tidak memediasi pengaruh job demand terhadap kinerja karyawan. Work engagement tidak memediasi emotional intelligence terhadap kinerja karyawan.

The research aims to determine and explain the role of work engagemet as an intervening variable between job demand and emotional intelligence on employee performance in PT. SinarNiaga Sejahtera depo Sidoarjo. This is a causal research with quantitive approach. The sample collecting technique is using sample saturation with 50 respondent of employee PT. Sinar Niaga Sejahtera depo Sidoaro. The statistical analysis used is Partial Least Square (PLS) with the support of smartPLS software 3.0.
The result of this research show that job demand has a positive and significant effect on work engagement. Emotional intelligence has no effect on work engagement. Work engagement has no effect on employee performance. Job demand has no effect on employee performance. Emotional intelligence has a positive and significant on employee performance. Work engagement not mediates the influence of job demand on employee performance. Work engagement not mediates the influence of emotional intelligence on employee performance.
