Bahasa adalah sistem tanda bunyi yang secara arbitrer dipergunakan oleh anggota kelompok sosial untuk bekerja sama, berkomunikasi, dan mengidentifikasi diri. Semantik dalam bahasa jepang disebut dengan imiron (意味論) dengan objek kajian berupa makna kata (語の意味), relasi makna antar kata dan kata lainya (語の意味関係), Makna Frasa (句の意味), dan makna kalimat (文の意味). Jenis makna sendiri dibagi menjadi berbagai macam jenis bergantung sudut pandang yang diambil. Secara umum jenis makna di bagi menjadi dua yakni makna leksikal dan makna gramatikal. jouzu dan tokui merupakan sinonim yang memiliki makna yang hampir sama yakni “Pintar dalam melakukan sesuatu”. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengkaji lebih dalam mengenai makna kata adjektiva-na jouzu dan tokui dalam suatu kalimat atau percakapan. Language is a system of sound symbols arbitrarily used by members of a social group to cooperate, communicate, and identify themselves. Semantics in the Japanese language is referred to as "imiron" (意味論) with its study objects including word meanings (語の意味), the meaning relationships between words and other words (語の意味関係), phrase meanings (句の意味), and sentence meanings (文の意味). The types of meanings themselves are divided into various kinds depending on the perspective taken. Generally, types of meanings are divided into two, namely lexical meaning and grammatical meaning. "Jouzu" and "tokui" are synonyms that have almost the same meaning, which is "skilled at doing something." This research aims to delve deeper into the meanings of the adjectival nouns "jouzu" and "tokui" in a sentence or conversation. The approach used is a qualitative approach with a descriptive research method. Data collection was carried out using the non-participatory observation technique, note-taking technique, and closed questionnaire collection to support the research. The study was conducted based on Moriyama's synonym identification theory (1998b) and Yamato's classification theory of "jouzu" and "tokui" (1957:135-137). From this research, 18 data points were found from dialogues in the anime "Golden Kamuy" season 1 and 7 responses from the distributed questionnaires. The results showed that "jouzu" and "tokui" can be interchanged in a sentence if the sentence indicates a universal context and cannot be interchanged if the sentence implies praise or describes the first subject or oneself.
