The aim of this research is to produce a Science
learning tool using the Electronic Book (E Book) on the topic of Human Movement
System which is appropriate to train the junior high school students’ Critical
Thinking Skills. The learning tools which are developed include Learning
Implementation Plan, Electronic Book Media (E-Book} and Critical Thinking Test.
The development of tools is a modification of model 4-D which was put on trial
on the 8th grade junior high schools students in the second semester of the academic year
2020-2021, and was repeated twice. The research design trial used
One-Group Pretest-Posttest Design.
The data collection
used validation method, observation, test and questionnaire. The result of the
research data are validation, practicality and effectiveness of the learning
tools analyzed quantitative and
qualitative descriptive. The result of the research showed that (a) the
learning tools developed are in the very valid category, (b) the learning
activity was done really well with the average score 3.9, (c) the students’
activity in learning was done very well with the average score of 3.89, (d) the
students’ response towards the Electronic Book media (E-book) was very good at
the percentage of 96.44%, and (e) the result of the student’s critical thinking
ability test showed a high improvement, the critical thinking ability was
highly improved from 40.8 (very not critical) to 85.93 (very critical). It is
concluded that the developed science learning tool using the electronic book
media is feasible to use in order to train the junior high school student’s
critical thinking skills.
