TOTAL PHENOLS AND FLAVONOIDS CONTENT AND ANTIOXIDANT ACTIVITIES IN HORSESHOE CRAB TACHYPLEUS GIGAS EGGS
The marine environment can be an abundant source of bioactive compounds. One type of mimi mintuna marine biota that is spread in Indonesian waters is Tachypleus gigas. The aim of this study was to determine the levels of total phenols, total flavonoids, and antioxidant activity in the methanol extract of Mimi Mintuna Mintuna (Tachypleus gigas) eggs. Extraction was carried out using the maceration method, while testing for total phenol levels was using the Folin Ciocalteu method, total flavonoids were using the aluminum chloride colorimetric method, while testing the antioxidant activity using FRAP and DPPH. The test results showed that the total phenols and flavonoids were 0,53506 mg GAE/g extract and 0,52067 mg QE/g extract, respectively. Antioxidant activity using the FRAP method obtained a total antioxidant capacity of 29,8467 μmol Fe^(2+)/g DW in the moderate category as an antioxidant, while antioxidant activity using the DPPH method obtained a very weak antioxidant potential with an IC50 value of 597,0397 ppm.
