Bahasa merupakan alat yang digunakan untuk menyampaikan ide,  pikiran, hasrat dan keinginan pada orang lain. Mempelajari Bahasa Mandarin meliputi empat komponen keterampilan yang perlu dikuasai, yaitu  keterampilan menulis,  keterampilan  membaca, keterampilan  menyimak dan  keterampilan berbicara. Kemampuan  menulis dianggap sebagai kemampuan yang paling sulit. Aksara Hàn atau yang dikenal dengan 汉字 Hànzì memiliki unsur penulisan yang terdiri dari guratan disebut 笔画 bǐhuà, urutan guratan yang disebut 笔顺 bǐshùn dan jumlah guratan.  Bǐhuà 笔画 dan bǐshùn 笔顺merupakan kaidah yang harus dipatuhi dalam penulisan Hànzì. Karena dengan penulisan bǐhuà 笔画 dan bǐshùn 笔顺 yang benar, tidak akan terjadi kesalahan penulisan Hànzì. Penelitian ini bertujuan mendeskripsikan pemahaman unsur penulisan dasar Hànzì 汉字 pada siswa kelas XI Bahasa SMA Negeri 1 Grogol Kediri, mendeskripsikan kemampuan menulis Hànzì汉字 siswa kelas XI Bahasa SMA Negeri 1 Grogol Kediri, dan mendeskripsikan  korelasi  pemahaman unsur penulisan dasar Hànzì dengan kemampuan menulis Hànzì siwa kelas XI Bahasa SMA Negeri 1 Grogol Kediri. Penelitian ini menggunakan metode deskriptif korelasional dengan pendekatan kuantitatif. Sampel dalam penelitian ini adalah siswa kelas XI Bahasa SMA Negeri 1 Grogol Kediri yang berjumlah 30 siswa. Instrumen yang digunakan dalam penelitian ini berbentuk soal objektif yang terdiri dari tes pemahaman unsur penulisan dasar Hànzì dan kemampuan menulis Hànzì. Penganalisisan dan pengujian hipotesis dalam penelitian ini menggunakan rumus korelasi  product moment  dan  uji signifikasi. Berdasar hasil analisis data ditemukan bahwa pemahaman unsur penulisan dasar Hànzì siswa kelas XI Bahasa SMA Negeri 1 Grogol Kediri dalam kategori baik dengan nilai rata-rata 80. Kemampuan menulis Hànzì siswa kelas XI Bahasa SMA Negeri 1 Grogol Kediri dalam kategori baik dengan nilai rata-rata 79,5. Diperoleh r hitung 0,617. Berdasar hasil interpretasi terhadap tabel pedoman interpretasi r hitung 0,617 masuk kategori kuat. Hasil perhitungan menunjukkan bahwa t hitung 4,05  lebih besar (>) t tabel 2,160 taraf signifikansi 5% uji dua pihak dan dk = n-2 = 28, dapat disimpulkan bahwa terdapat hubungan yang positif dan signifikan antara pemahaman unsur dasar penulisan Hànzì dengan kemampuan menulis Hànzì pada siswa kelas XI Bahasa SMA Negeri 1 Grogol Kediri.

Language is a tool used to convey ideas, thoughts, desires and desires to others. Learning Mandarin includes four components of skills that need to be mastered, namely writing skills, reading skills, listening skills and speaking skills. The ability to write is considered the most difficult ability. The Hàn letter or known as 汉字 Hànzì has a writing element consisting of strokes called 笔画 bǐhuà, a stroke sequence called atan bǐshùn and number of strokes. Bǐhuà 笔画 and bǐshùn 笔顺 are rules that must be obeyed in Hànzì writing. Because with bǐhuà writing 笔画 and bǐshùn 笔顺 correct, there will be no Hànzì writing error. This study aims to describe the understanding of the basic writing elements of Hànzì (汉字) in XI grade of Senior High School 1 Grogol Kediri, describing Hànzì writing ability in XI grade of Senior High School 1 Grogol Kediri, and describing the correlation of understanding Hànzì basic writing elements with Hànzì writing ability in XI grade of Senior High School 1 Grogol Kediri. This study uses a descriptive correlational method with a quantitative approach. The sample in this study were students of class XI Language in Senior High School 1 Kediri, amounting to 30 students. The instruments used in this study were in the form of test questions understanding Hànzì's basic writing elements and Hànzì writing skills test questions. Analyzing and testing the hypothesis in this study using the product moment correlation formula and significance test. Based on the results of data analysts, it was found that the understanding of the basic elements of Hànzì writing in class XI Language of Senior High School 1 Kediri was in a good category with an average value of 80. Ability to write Hànzì in class XI Language of Senior High School 1 Kediri in good category with an average value 79.5. Obtained r count 0.617 greater (>) r table with a significance level of 5%, which is 0.514. Based on the results of the interpretation of the guideline table the interpretation of r count 0.617 is in the strong category. The calculation results show that t count 4.05 is greater (>) t table 2.160 significance level 5% two-party test and dk = n-2 = 28, it can be concluded that there is a positive and significant relationship between understanding the basic elements of Hànzì writing with the ability write Hànzì in class students XI  Language of Senior High School 1 Grogol Kediri.
