ANALISIS KEMENANGAN BERDASARKAN KALAH PERSENTASE BALL POSSESSION PADA PIALA DUNIA SEPAKBOLA 2022

ANALYSIS OF WINNINGS BASED ON LOSE IN PERCENTAGE OF BALL POSSESSION IN THE 2022 FOOTBALL WORLD CUP

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui faktor-faktor yang mempengaruhi sebuah tim dapat memenangkan pertandingan meskipun kalah dalam persentase ball possession pada Piala Dunia Sepakbola 2022. Jenis penelitian yang digunakan pada penelitian ini adalah mixed methods dengan pendekatan deskriptif. Sampel dari penelitian ini berjumlah 25 pertandingan yang dipilih berdasarkan fokus dari penelitian ini yang menganalisis kemenangan tim dengan kondisi kalah secara ball possession. Teknik pengumpulan data pada penelitian ini menggunakan meliputi dokumentasi dan wawancara dengan teknik analisis data menggunakan perhitungan persentase. Hasil dari penelitian ini menunjukkan bahwa terdapat 17 pertandingan (72%) dari total sampel dengan tim yang memenangkan pertandingan unggul dalam persentase on target, 25 pertandingan (100%) dari total sampel dengan tim yang memenangkan pertandingan unggul dalam persentase effectiveness of attempts at goal, dan 21 pertandingan (84%) dari total sampel dengan tim yang memenangkan pertandingan unggul dalam persentase goalkeeper’s saves. Berdasarkan hasil dari penelitian ini dapat disimpulkan bahwa ball possession memang merupakan hal yang penting dalam permainan sepakbola, namun tidak mutlak menjadi faktor penentu dalam kemenangan tim dalam suatu pertandingan, dengan juga memperhatikan item lain yang menjadi faktor kemenangan tim seperti kemampuan pemain dalam melakukan percobaan tembakan ke gawang (on target) dan memanfaatkan peluang dengan baik hingga menghasilkan gol (effectiveness of attempts at goal), serta kemampuan penjaga gawang dalam menjaga gawangnya dari percobaan tembakan ke arah gawang yang dilakukan pemain lawan (goalkeeper’s saves).

This research aims to determine the factors that influence a team to win a match even though it loses in ball possession percentage at the 2022 Football World Cup. The type of research used in this research is mixed methods with a descriptive approach. The sample from this research consisted of 25 matches which were selected based on the focus of this research which was analyzing team wins when they lost in terms of ball possession. The data collection techniques used in this research include documentation and interviews with data analysis techniques using percentage calculations. The results of this research show that there are 17 matches (72%) of the total sample with the team that won the match superior in percentage of on target, 25 matches (100%) of the total sample with the team that won the match superior in percentage of effectiveness of attempts at goal, and 21 matches (84%) of the total sample with the team that won the match superior in the percentage of goalkeeper’s saves. Based on the results of this research, it can be concluded that ball possession is indeed an important thing in the game of football, but it is not absolutely a determining factor in a team's victory in a match, by also paying attention to other items that are factors in team victory such as the player's ability to attempt shots at goal (on target) and make good use of opportunities to produce goals (effectiveness of attempts at goal), as well as the goalkeeper's ability to protect his goal from attempted shots at goal made by opposing players (goalkeeper's saves).
