Analysis Of Strength & Porosity Of Geopolimer Mortars Based On Fly Ash and GGBFS (Ground Granulated Blast Furnance Slag) With 10 Molar NaOH Condition

Perkembangan konstruksi di Indonesia berkembang pesat, sehingga dituntut untuk menghasilkan sebuah teknologi inovatif untuk mortar. Sampai saat ini mortar adalah bahan bangunan yang paling sering digunakan yang terdiri dari beberapa material seperti agregat halus, semen dan pasir. Maka dari itu, dibutuhkan berbagai inovasi untuk menghasilkan mortar berkualitas tinggi dan ramah lingkungan. Inovasi tersebut dapat dilakukan dengan menggantikan semen pada mortar yang dinamakan geopolimer. Bahan dasar dari geopolimer adalah bahan-bahan yang mengandung unsur-unsur kimia silika (Si) dan alumina (Al). Unsur-unsur ini bisa didapatkan pada limbah industri seperti limbah fly ash dan GGBFS (Ground Granulated Blast Furnance Slag). Untuk bahan yang mengandung unsur kimia tersebut agar dapat mengikat seperti semen maka harus dicampur dengan larutan alkali (aktivator) yaitu natrium hidroksida (NaOH) dan sodium silikat Na₂SiO₃. Tujuan penelitian ini untuk mengetahui komposisi optimum pada mortar geopolimer dengan bahan dasar fly ash dan GGBFS. Metode penelitian yang dipakai adalah metode eksperimen dengan benda uji berukuran 5 cm x 5 cm x 5 cm dengan rasio SS/SH 10 Molar = 1,5 serta rasio W/S = 0,678. Jumlah variasi mix design sebanyak 12 buah dengan perawatan suhu ruang lalu dilakukan pengujian saat usia 7, 14 dan 28 hari. Penelitian ini mendapatkan hasil yaitu nilai kuat tekan optimum dan nilai porositas minimum terjadi pada mix design 10 pada usia 28 hari dengan nilai kuat tekan sebesar 58,93 MPa serta nilai porositas sebesar 5,73% jadi nilai kuat tekan berbanding terbalik dengan nilai porisitas. Nilai kuat tekan meningkat seiring bertambahnya bahan dasar GGBFS dan berkurangnya fly ash namun peningkatan ini hanya sampai dengan mix design 10 dengan komposisi komposisi 55% fly ash dan 45% GGBFS begitupun sebaliknya untuk uji porositas cendenrung menurun sampai dengan mix design 10.

The development of construction in Indonesia is growing rapidly, so it is required to produce an innovative technology for mortar. Until now, mortar is the most commonly used building material that consists of several materials such as fine aggregate, cement and sand. Therefore, innovations are needed to produce high quality and environmentally friendly mortar. The innovation can be done by replacing cement in mortar called geopolymer. The basic ingredients of geopolymers are materials containing the chemical elements silica (Si) and alumina (Al). These elements can be found in industrial waste such as fly ash and GGBFS (Ground Granulated Blast Furnance Slag). For materials containing these chemical elements to bind like cement, it must be mixed with an alkaline solution (activator), namely sodium hydroxide (NaOH) and sodium silicate Na₂SiO₃. The purpose of this study was to determine the optimum composition of geopolymer mortar with fly ash and GGBFS. The research method used is experimental method with test specimens measuring 5 cm x 5 cm x 5 cm with 10 Molar SS/SH ratio = 1.5 and W/S ratio = 0.678. The number of mix design variations was 12 pieces with room temperature treatment and then tested at the age of 7, 14 and 28 days. This study found that the optimum compressive strength value and minimum porosity value occurred in mix design 10 at the age of 28 days with a compressive strength value of 58.93 MPa and a porosity value of 5.73% so that the compressive strength value is inversely proportional to the porosity value. The compressive strength value increases as the GGBFS base material increases and fly ash decreases but this increase is only up to mix design 10 with a composition of 55% fly ash and 45% GGBFS and vice versa for porosity tests tend to decrease up to mix design 10.
