Sweet potatoes as
one of the foods that contain high carbohydrates, one of the processed sweet
potatoes that are often found are chips made from white sweet potatoes. The
problem with the process of making sweet potato chips is still done in a simple
way using a manual cutting tool, namely a kitchen knife, so that the cutting of
thin thick sweet potatoes is not the same. Therefore, a sweet potato chip
cutting machine is needed to help and facilitate the cutting process. This
sweet potato chip cutting machine aims to help in producing maximum products.
Besides being able to speed up the production process, this sweet potato chip
cutting machine aims to produce production results with the same thickness of
sweet potato chips, which is 1-2 mm.
The method used
is a quantitative descriptive approach method, where the process begins with
testing, taking data in the form of numbers that are processed into sample data
and then analyzed to find out how the influence between the variable number of
blades, namely 1, 2 and 4 and variations in rotation speed of 368, 440, and 527
rpm on the results of sweet potato cutting.
The results of
the analysis with 1, 2, and 4 blades are all three of these three obtained the
best results when using a rotation speed of 527 rpm. Similarly, the efficiency
of its production results which produce 94.78%, 95.7%, and 97.01%. With the
increasing number of blades, the production capacity of sweet potatoes also
increases, as well as the efficiency of the production is getting higher. So it
is said that variations in the number of blades and variations in rotation
speed on the blades both affect the cutting results of sweet potatoes.
