VISUAL COMMUNICATION MEDIA SIGN SYSTEM GRAHA MOJOKERTO SERVICE CITY BUILDING

Abstrak

Perancangan sign system ini dilator belakangi masalah gedung Graha Mojokerto Service City belum memiliki system tanda yang memadai, sehingga pengunjung sering kebingunan mendapatkan layanan publik. Disisi lain Mojokerto merupakan daerah yang memiliki kearifan lokal peninggalan sejarah Majapahit yang perlu dilestarikan. Penelitian ini bertujuan merancang sign system Graha Mojokerto Service City yang lebih informatif, komunikatif, dan estetik. Metode penelitian menggunakan pendekatan analisis deskriptif kualitatif dengan metode 5W+1H. Berdasar analisis data dapat disimpukan; 1) Konsep perancangan sign system gedung pelayanan publik milik pemerintah, Graha Mojokerto Service City yang diambil dari unsur kebudayaan lokal Mojokerto yaitu gapura candi Ringin Lawang dan  warna oranye sebagai warna utama; 2) Tahapan perancangan desain sign system meliputi: a) pengumpulan data melalui  brainstorming, b) mengembangkan sketsa thumbnail hingga menemukan bentuk yang sesuai, c) membuat tightissue dengan melakukan beberapa penyempurnaan bentuk dan warna, dan d) finalisasi desain untuk menentukan hasil akhir perancangan sign system; 3) Berdasar hasil validasi oleh desainer grafis professional menunjukkan hasil baik yaitu 9% cukup baik,  73% baik, dan 18% sangat baik; 4) Desain yang sudah direvisi berdasarkan masukan validator ahli, selanjutkan dilakukan ujicoba kepaad 43 responden dengan hasil 77 % responden menyatakan  cukup terbantu dengan sign system yang dibuat, 16 % menyatakan mungkin terbantu, dan 7% menyatakan tidak yakin.

 Abstract

The design of the sign system is motivated by the problem of the Graha Mojokerto Service City building that does not yet have an adequate sign system, so visitors are often confused about getting public services. On the other hand Mojokerto is an area that has local wisdom of Majapahit history which needs to be preserved. This research aims to design a Graha Mojokerto Service City sign system that is more informative, communicative, and aesthetic. The research method uses a qualitative descriptive analysis approach with the 5W + 1H method. Based on data analysis, it can be concluded; 1) the concept of designing the sign system of the government-owned public service building, Graha Mojokerto Service City, which was taken from the elements of the local culture of Mojokerto, namely the Ringin Lawang temple gate and orange as the main color; 2) The stages of sign system design include: a) data collection through brainstorming, b) developing thumbnail sketches to find suitable shapes, c) making tightissue by making some improvements to the shape and color, and d) finalizing the design to determine the final design of the sign design system; 3) Based on the results of validation by professional graphic designers, it shows good results, namely 9% are quite good, 73% are good, and 18% are very good; 4) The revised design is based on expert validator input, after which 43 respondents were tested with 77% of respondents stating that they were quite helped by the sign system, 16% said it might be helped, and 7% said they were not sure.
