Want to Know Learned (KWL) Strategy on Fairy Tale Material to Improve Reading
Comprehension Skills for Grade 4 Elementary School Students. Thesis. Surabaya.
Faculty of Science and Education. 2025.
In
today's digital era, media is needed to facilitate material delivery to
students and support the learning process. This research aims to produce
articulate storyline learning media based on the KWL strategy that is valid,
practical, and effective in improving the reading comprehension skills of grade
4 elementary school students. This research used the ASSURE development model,
which was carried out at SDN Lidah Wetan IV, especially in class 4. Data was
collected by interviews, observation, documentation, validation and response
questionnaires, as well as pretest posttest. The articulate storyline learning
media based on the KWL strategy that was developed https://s2dikdas.fip.unesa.ac.id/page/vilab-bahasa
was declared valid with a percentage of
83% from media experts, 88% from material experts, and 84% from test experts.
Then, based on the results of the response questionnaire, the articulate
storyline learning media developed was declared practical with a percentage of
100% from teachers and 94% from students. Finally, the articulate storyline
media was declared effective in improving the reading comprehension skills of
grade 4 elementary school students with an increase in the pretest score of 50
and the posttest score of 81.5 which is included in the "medium"
n-gain category, which means the increase in students' reading comprehension
skills is not high and not low. The suggestions in this research are that teachers
are expected to be able to use interesting and interactive learning media to
increase the effectiveness of the learning process, schools can conduct
training to improve teachers' abilities and skills, and future researchers are
expected to be able to conduct trials more widely, not limited to one school or
just one class, so that learning media can be used by more users.
