Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui proses perancangan dan hasil jadi busana avant-garde dengan inspirasi arsitektur The Tower of London melalui penerapan teknik bordir aplikasi. Perancangan didasarkan pada teori transformasi desain yang menjelaskan bahwa unsur visual suatu objek dapat diolah dan diterjemahkan ke dalam bentuk desain baru tanpa menghilangkan karakter utamanya. Selain itu, teori busana avant-garde menekankan eksplorasi bentuk, struktur, dan kreativitas yang inovatif, sedangkan teknik bordir aplikasi digunakan sebagai media untuk memperkuat detail visual dan karakter desain. The Tower of London dipilih sebagai sumber ide karena memiliki karakter visual yang monumental, kokoh, dan historis yang berpotensi ditransformasikan ke dalam busana avant-garde. Penelitian ini menggunakan metode deskriptif kuantitatif dengan pendekatan Double Diamond yang meliputi tahap discover, define, develop, dan deliver. Teknik pengumpulan data dilakukan melalui observasi dan angket penilaian menggunakan skala Likert 1–5 yang diberikan kepada observer. Data dianalisis menggunakan statistik deskriptif berupa nilai rata-rata (mean). Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa proses perancangan busana avant-garde berhasil diwujudkan melalui eksplorasi bentuk arsitektur The Tower of London yang ditransformasikan menjadi siluet struktural, detail dekoratif, dan motif bordir aplikasi. Hasil jadi busana menampilkan karakter monumental dan artistik sesuai konsep avant-garde melalui bentuk bahu tegas, rok bervolume besar, serta motif bordir stilasi menara dan struktur bangunan sebagai fokus visual utama. Berdasarkan hasil penilaian observer, aspek kreativitas dan orisinalitas memperoleh nilai rata-rata 4,92, aspek penerapan teknik bordir aplikasi memperoleh nilai rata-rata 4,41, aspek hasil jadi memperoleh nilai rata-rata 4,92, dan penilaian keseluruhan memperoleh nilai rata-rata 4,75 dengan kategori sangat baik.

This study aims to determine the design process and the final result of an avant-garde fashion design inspired by the architecture of the Tower of London through the application of embroidery appliqué techniques. The design was based on transformation design theory, which explains that the visual elements of an object can be processed and translated into a new design form without eliminating its main characteristics. In addition, avant-garde fashion theory emphasizes the exploration of innovative forms, structures, and creativity, while embroidery appliqué serves as a medium to strengthen visual details and design character. The Tower of London was selected as the source of inspiration due to its monumental, sturdy, and historical visual characteristics, which have the potential to be transformed into an avant-garde fashion design. This study employed a quantitative descriptive method using the Double Diamond approach, consisting of the stages of discover, define, develop, and deliver. Data were collected through observation and assessment questionnaires using a 5-point Likert scale completed by observers. The data were analyzed using descriptive statistics in the form of mean scores.The results showed that the design process was successfully realized through the transformation of the architectural elements of the Tower of London into structural silhouettes, decorative details, and embroidery appliqué motifs. The final fashion design displayed monumental and artistic characteristics in accordance with the avant-garde concept through bold shoulder forms, voluminous skirts, and stylized motifs of towers and architectural structures as the main visual focus. Based on the observers’ assessment, the creativity and originality aspect obtained a mean score of 4.92, the application of embroidery appliqué techniques obtained a mean score of 4.41, the final product aspect obtained a mean score of 4.92, and the overall assessment obtained a mean score of 4.75, all of which were categorized as very good.
