PENGARUH PENERAPAN STRATEGI SABOTAGE DENGAN PENDEKATAN AUDITORY VERBAL THERAPY TERHADAP KEMAMPUAN BERBICARA ANAK TUNARUNGU
THE EFFECT OF APPLYING SABOTAGE STRATEGIES WITH AN AUDITORY VERBAL THERAPY APPROACH ON THE SPEAKING ABILITY OF DEAF CHILDREN
In each learning process, the speaking ability of children with hearing impairment often faces obstacles due to limitations in receiving auditory information. Therefore, an appropriate strategy is needed to improve their verbal communication skills. This study aims to examine the effect of implementing the sabotage strategy through the Auditory Verbal Therapy approach on the speaking ability of children with hearing impairment. This research employed a quantitative approach with a single-group pretest-posttest design. Data collection techniques included oral tests. The research instrument consisted of an sheet to track the development of speaking skills. Data analysis was performed using the non-parametric Wilcoxon Match Pairs Test to identify differences in speaking ability before and after the intervention. The results showed an improvement in the speaking ability of children with hearing impairment following the implementation of the sabotage strategy within the AVT approach, particularly in vocabulary mastery and fluency in speaking. The application of the sabotage strategy with the Auditory Verbal Therapy approach has an effect on improving the speaking ability of deaf children.
