The Relationship between Career Maturity and Quarter Life Crisis among Employees
Quarter life crisis merupakan fenomena psikologis yang umum terjadi pada individu usia dewasa awal, seiring meningkatnya tekanan dalam menentukan arah karier dan mencapai stabilitas finansial. Kematangan karier diyakini berperan dalam membantu individu menghadapi transisi dari dunia pendidikan ke dunia kerja, serta meminimalisir kecemasan selama masa quarter life crisis. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengkaji hubungan antara kematangan karier dengan quarter life crisis pada pekerja. Penelitian menggunakan pendekatan kuantitatif korelasional. Subjek penelitian sebanyak 115 pekerja berusia 18-29 tahun di salah satu badan usaha di Kabupaten Lamongan yang dipilih menggunakan teknik sampel jenuh. Data dikumpulkan melalui kuesioner menggunakan skala kematangan karier dan skala quarter life crisis yang disusun berdasarkan teori Donald Super dan Robbins & Wilner, serta telah diuji validitas dan reliabilitasnya. Analisis data menggunakan teknik analisis korelasi pearson product moment. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan adanya hubungan negatif yang signifikan antara kematangan karier dan quarter life crisis dengan nilai korelasi r = -0,428 dan signifikansi p = 0,000 (p<0,005). Artinya, semakin tinggi tingkat kematangan karier yang dimiliki individu, semakin rendah tingkat quarter life crisis yang dialami. Disarankan agar perusahaan dan pekerja mengembangkan program peningkatan kematangan karier untuk meminimalisir risiko quarter life crisis.
Quarter life crisis is a psychological phenomenon commonly experienced by individuals in early adulthood, often triggered by increasing pressure to determine career direction and achieve financial stability. Career maturity is believed to play a crucial role in assisting individuals through the transition from education to the workforce, while also minimizing anxiety during the quarter life crisis phase. This study aims to examine the relationship between career maturity and quarter life crisis among workers. A quantitative correlational approach was employed. The study involved 115 workers aged 18–29 years from a business unit in Lamongan Regency, selected through a saturated sampling technique. Data were collected using questionnaires based on Donald Super’s theory of career maturity and Robbins & Wilner’s concept of quarter life crisis, with instruments tested for validity and reliability. Data analysis was conducted using Pearson Product Moment correlation. The results showed a significant negative relationship between career maturity and quarter life crisis, with a correlation coefficient of r = -0.428 and a significance level of p = 0.000 (p < 0.005). This indicates that the higher an individual's career maturity, the lower their level of quarter life crisis. It is recommended that both companies and employees develop programs to enhance career maturity in order to reduce the risk of quarter life crisis.
