PENERAPAN TEKNIK IMPASTO PADA SENI LUKIS GAYA IMPRESIONISME OLEH SISWA X-10 DI SMAN 12 SURABAYA
THE APPLICATION OF IMPASTO TECHNIQUE IN IMPRESSIONISM PAINTING STYLE BY STUDENT OF X-10 AT SMAN 12 SURABAYA
Art education at SMAN 12 Surabaya has so far remained limited in exploring painting styles and techniques. The application of the impasto technique in impressionist-style painting can serve as a means of expression for students. This study aims to describe the preparation, process, results, and responses regarding the application of the impasto technique in impressionist-style painting. This study employed a descriptive qualitative method. Data were collected through observation, interviews, and documentation. The research subjects were students of class X-10 at SMAN 12 Surabaya. The data were analyzed descriptively and validated using triangulation techniques. The preparation for this study began with discussions with the art teacher, preparing the research tools and materials, and preparing the necessary equipment. The learning process was conducted over four meetings. The first meeting involved the presentation of material, the second meeting focused on beginning the sketches, the third meeting involved the application of the technique, and the fourth meeting was dedicated to presenting the results. This study produced 29 artworks, with 17 works categorized as very good, 5 works categorized as good, and 7 works categorized as fair. The obstacles encountered in this study included some students being inactive and students experiencing difficulty in using the palette knife during the application process. The teacher's response was one of enthusiasm, as students gained new insights into painting styles and techniques. The students' response was that the impasto technique and impressionist painting style were very interesting, as they created a realistic texture in the paintings.
