PENGEMBANGAN MEDIA PEMBELAJARAN BUSY BOOK ISYARAT HURUF HIJAIAH UNTUK MURID DISABILITAS RUNGU
THE DEVELOPMENT OF A BUSY BOOK USING HIJAIAH SIGN LANGUAGE FOR DEAF STUDENTS
Mempelajari Alquran merupakan kewajiban bagi setiap muslim, termasuk murid disabilitas rungu. Namun, pembelajaran huruf hijaiah sebagai keterampilan dasar membaca Alquran di lapangan masih menghadapi berbagai tantangan. Murid disabilitas rungu mengalami kesulitan dalam memproses informasi auditori sehingga mengalami hambatan dalam menghubungkan simbol huruf dengan bunyi bacaan. Selain itu, murid juga memiliki keterbatasan kemampuan bahasa sehingga membutuhkan pembelajaran yang sesuai dengan karakteristik belajar visual dan penggunaan isyarat. Namun, guru yang belum memperoleh pelatihan pembelajaran Alquran isyarat serta belum tersedianya media pembelajaran berbasis isyarat menyebabkan penerapan pembelajaran huruf hijaiah berbasis isyarat belum berlangsung secara optimal. Penelitian ini bertujuan mengembangkan prototipe media pembelajaran Busy Book Isyarat Huruf Hijaiah yang layak dan praktis bagi murid disabilitas rungu. Penelitian ini menggunakan metode Research and Development dengan model 4D yang meliputi tahap define, design, develop (terbatas), dan disseminate (terbatas). Penelitian dilaksanakan di SLBN Gedangan Sidoarjo dan Universitas Negeri Surabaya dengan subjek penelitian ahli materi, ahli media, guru, dan lima murid disabilitas rungu. Teknik pengumpulan data menggunakan observasi, wawancara, dan angket. Teknik analisis data menggunakan analisis deskriptif kuantitatif. Hasil validasi menunjukkan bahwa prototipe media Busy Book Isyarat Huruf Hijaiah memperoleh kategori sangat valid dengan persentase 96,88% dari ahli materi dan 91,6% dari ahli media. Selain itu, hasil uji coba terbatas menunjukkan kategori sangat praktis dengan persentase 93% pada angket respon guru dan 91,6% pada observasi keterlaksanaan penggunaan media oleh murid. Temuan penelitian menunjukkan bahwa aktivitas visual dan manipulatif dalam media mampu membantu meningkatkan keterlibatan, perhatian, dan partisipasi murid dalam pembelajaran huruf hijaiah. Berdasarkan penemuan tersebut, penelitian selanjutnya difokuskan pada uji keefektifan media terhadap hasil belajar murid. Kata Kunci : Busy Book, Isyarat Huruf Hijaiah, Murid disabilitas rungu.
Studying the Holy Quran is an obligation for every Muslim, including deaf student. However, learning the Hijaiah—a fundamental skill for reading the Quran—still faces various challenges in practice. Deaf student have difficulty processing auditory information, which hinders their ability to associate letter symbols with their corresponding sounds. In addition, these students also have limited language abilities, requiring instruction tailored to their visual learning characteristics and the use of sign language. Nevertheless, the lack of teachers trained in sign language-based Quran instruction, coupled with the unavailability of sign language-based learning materials, has prevented the optimal implementation of Hijaiah sign language. This study aims to develop a prototype of the “Busy Book of Hijaiah Sign Language” learning media that is suitable and practical for deaf student. This study employs the Research and Development method using the 4D model by Sivasailam Thiagarajan, Dorothy S. Semmel, dan Melvyn I. Semmel (1974), which includes the define, design, develop (limited), and disseminate (limited) stages. The research was conducted Special School located in Gedangan Sidoarjo and Universitas Negeri Surabaya with subject matter experts, media experts, teachers, and five students with hearing disabilities as research subjects. Data collection techniques included observation, interviews, and questionnaires. Data analysis used quantitative descriptive analysis. The validation results indicate that the prototype of the “Busy Book of Hijaiah Sign Language” media received a “highly valid” rating, with a 96.88% approval rate from subject matter experts and a 91.6% approval rate from media experts. Additionally, the results of the pilot test indicated a “highly practical” category, with a 93% rating on the teacher response questionnaire and a 91.6% rating on the observation of students’ use of the media. The research findings indicate that the visual and manipulative activities within the media are effective in enhancing students’ engagement, attention, and participation in learning the Hijaiah. Further research should focus on assessing the media’s effectiveness on student’s learning outcome. Key words : Busy Book, Hijaiah Sign Language, Deaf Student.
